Teaparty Since June 2010 The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's command center routinely monitors dozens of popular websites

(Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's command center routinely monitors dozens of popular websites, including Facebook, Twitter, Hulu, WikiLeaks and news and gossip sites including the Huffington Post and Drudge Report, according to a government document.

A "privacy compliance review" issued by DHS last November says that since at least June 2010, its national operations center has been operating a "Social Networking/Media Capability" which involves regular monitoring of "publicly available online forums, blogs, public websites and message boards."

The purpose of the monitoring, says the government document, is to "collect information used in providing situational awareness and establishing a common operating picture."

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.

Lay Off Letter
Little wonder why this guy is boss. He is sharp! You can´t be any fairer than this leader...
Dear Employees: As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%. But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me since I believe we are family here and I didn´t know how to choose who would have to go. So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty ´Obama´ bumper stickers on our employees´ cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can´t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change...... I gave it to them. I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.

When Grandma Goes To Court. Lawyers should never ask a grandma a question if they aren

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.

When Grandma Goes To Court

Lawyers should never ask a grandma a question if they aren´t prepared for the answer.
In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked, ´Mrs. Jones, do you know me?´ She responded, ´Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I´ve known you since you were a boy, and frankly, you´ve been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you´re a big shot when you haven´t the brains to realize you´ll never amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you.´

The lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, ´Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?´

She again replied, ´Why yes, I do. I´ve known Mr. Bradley since he was a
youngster, too. He´s lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can´t build a normal relationship with anyone, and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him.´

The defense attorney nearly died.

The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench and, in a very quiet voice, said,
´If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I´ll send you both to the electric chair.´

Founder and Treasurer of Washington D.C. Labor Union Charged with Stealing Pension Funds for Personal Use, Violating a Court Order and Obstructing Investigation

Posted at 7:11 PM on Apr. 1, 2011 by Mr Blog

Founder and Treasurer of Washington D.C. Labor Union Charged with Stealing Pension Funds for Personal Use, Violating a Court Order and Obstructing Investigation.

WASHINGTON – The founder and treasurer of the National Association of Special Police and Security Officers (NASPSO) was charged today in a superseding indictment with mail fraud, theft from a labor organization, obstruction of justice, criminal contempt and various recordkeeping offenses related to his operation of a pension plan for NASPSO members.   NASPSO is a labor union representing private security guards assigned to protect federal buildings in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

The charges were announced by Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Criminal Division; Mabel Capolongo, Director of the Philadelphia Regional Office of the Employee Benefits Security Administration of the Department of Labor; Robert L. Panella, Special Agent in Charge of the Office of Inspector General, Office of Labor Racketeering and Fraud Investigations of the Washington, D.C. Regional Office, and Mark Wheeler, Director of the Washington District Office of the Office of Labor Management Standards.

Caleb Gray-Burriss, 60, of Washington, D.C., will be arraigned on April 4, 2011, in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.  Gray-Burriss originally was charged in June 2010 with four counts of mail fraud.

According to the superseding indictment, from approximately June 2004 through February 2011, Gray-Burriss wrote numerous checks to himself or to other third parties from the checking account where he had placed funds intended for the NASPSO pension plan.  The superseding indictment alleges that Gray-Burriss spent more than $100,000 of the pension plan funds in this way, while at the same time falsely maintaining that it was an operational fund that he was properly administering and that was providing benefits to the beneficiaries.   Gray-Burriss previously settled a civil suit which, in part, addressed his unlawful conduct with respect to NASPSO-sponsored health and benefit plans.

The superseding indictment charges Gray-Burriss with criminal contempt of a court order after he allegedly stole money from the NASPSO treasury to pay his personal fines due in the civil settlement.   The superseding indictment also alleges that Gray-Burriss resumed his involvement with NASPSO-sponsored health and pension plans after the civil lawsuit was settled, even though he was prohibited by court order from doing so.

In addition, the superseding indictment charges that Gary-Burriss, while an officer and employee of NASPSO, stole more than $115,000 in NASPSO funds through unauthorized salary increases and bonuses to himself, cash withdrawals from ATMs, reimbursement for unauthorized vacations and trips to casinos, personal dental work, and other goods and services.   Gray-Burriss also allegedly unlawfully used NASPSO funds to pay his parking tickets and personal fines in a civil lawsuit.   Finally, the superseding indictment charges Gray-Burriss with two counts of obstructive of justice for concealing and/or destroying NASPSO records and attempting to induce a witness to withhold testimony and records during the grand jury investigation.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Gray-Burriss faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each of the mail fraud and obstruction of justice charges.   The theft from a labor organization charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.   Gray-Burriss also faces additional penalties if convicted of the criminal contempt and recordkeeping charges.

The investigation leading to the superseding indictment of Gray-Burriss was conducted by investigators from three agencies of the U.S. Department of Labor – the Employee Benefits Security Administration, the Office of Labor Management Standards and the Office of Inspector General, Office of Labor Racketeering and Fraud Investigations.   The case is being prosecuted by Trial Attorney Vincent Falvo of the Criminal Division’s Organized Crime and Racketeering Section.

Why is the Tea Party on a roll?

Posted at 6:08 AM on Oct. 7, 2010 by Mr Blog
Why is the Tea Party on a roll?

Consider these numbing statistics:

-- More than 6,000 men and women will be married today, and each of their children will be saddled with a $30,000 share of the runaway national debt.

-- More than 15 million men and women will not find a job today.

-- More than 2,900 families will have their homes foreclosed today.

-- Some 2,000 illegal aliens will sneak across our borders today, underscoring the human, arms and drug trafficking that is destroying the quality of life in Arizona, California and a growing number of other states.

At the same time, during the past two years, an ever-expanding federal government has taken over everything from General Motors to the health care system. And the United States appears weaker on the international stage than at any time since we lost the Vietnam War.

As I have said in this column before, our allies don´t trust us and our enemies no longer fear us.

No wonder a Tea Party movement motivated by patriotism and adherence to the Constitution, as well as opposition to record high tax-and-spend policies, sprang up to challenge the incumbent candidates of both parties who are presiding over the decline of our country.

Those Democrats who have been painting Tea Partiers as "crazies" do so at their electoral peril. Republicans should beware, too, if they adhere to an attitude of "yes, we want to take you out, but we don´t want to date you steady and we certainly don´t want to marry you."

The absurd spectacle of a Democrat subcommittee chairman, backed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, inviting a comedian to give fake "testimony" and crack jokes during a serious hearing on immigration (as happened with Stephen Colbert recently) is just the latest insult that inflames Americans sick of out-of-touch politicians who fail to address pressing problems.

There is a growing concern, reflected by polling, that the government is taking over the choices that we all once made in life. That explains why a large segment of the independent voters who helped elect President Barack Obama have now abandoned him. A recent Associated Press poll indicates 59 percent of respondents don´t like the way the ruling Democrats are handling the economy. Specifically, the failed "job stimulus" and health care policies of Obama, supported by Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, helped drive many people to join or support the vocal Tea Partiers.

Yet, keep in mind that the Tea Party is not Republican, although its supporters will be voting for a large number of GOP candidates this fall. It is an independent, small-government, constitutional movement. Its adherents sincerely believe that all too many elected officials in Washington have evolved from being "representatives" of the people to our dictatorial rulers.

This is why I´ve said, on many occasions, that Republicans and Democrats who ignore the Tea Partiers do it at their own peril.

Interestingly, Republicans who were seen as helping Democrats advance big government and big spending schemes have been defeated by Tea Party-backed candidates in this year´s primaries. Look at the humiliation of Utah´s Bob Bennett, Florida´s Charlie Crist, Alaska´s Lisa Murkowski and Delaware´s Mike Castle -- all considered GOP "establishment" types perceived as disrespecting constituents. Then there is Pennsylvania´s Arlen Specter, who was a longtime Republican before switching parties a year ago. He still lost his Senate primary.

The Frenchman Jean Jacques Rousseau --14 years before the 13 American colonies revolted against Great Britain in a war to be free -- penned a chilling warning coupled with a summation that amazingly describes America´s political landscape today:

"Finally, when the state, on the eve of ruin, maintains only a vain, illusory and formal existence, when in every heart the social bond is broken, and the meanest interest brazenly lays hold of the sacred name of ´public good,´ the general will becomes mute: all men, guided by secret motives, no more give their views as citizens than if the state had never been; and iniquitous decrees directed solely to private interest get passed under the name of laws."

This is a description of the ruination of America, evidenced by the trashing of the Constitution, the dismantling of our private enterprise system, the spending and tax-hike spree and the downgrading of our national security when our president can´t bring himself to publicly utter the words "radical Islamic terrorism" in identifying our enemy.

But the "general will" described by Rousseau is no longer "mute." There is a nationwide outrage by "We the People" coupled with a love of God, country and the Constitution. It is what spurs the Tea Party to "educate voters" and to fan a political firestorm that has already singed some politicians.

Come November, the movement will defeat even more politicians who have a record of tearing down what our Founding Fathers built.

3M to stop offering group health by 2015

3M to stop offering group health by 2015 to retirees not eligible 4 Medicare, due to #HCR http://on.wsj.com/ciEuZl #DumpReid #DESen

3M Co. confirmed it would eventually stop offering its health-insurance plan to retirees, citing the federal health overhaul as a factor.

The changes won´t start to phase in until 2013. But they show how companies are beginning to respond to the new law, which should make it easier for people in their 50s and early-60s to find affordable policies on their own. While thousands of employers are tapping new funds from the law to keep retiree plans, 3M illustrates that others may not opt to retain such plans over the next few years

The St. Paul, Minn., manufacturing conglomerate notified employees on Friday that it would change retiree benefits both for those who are too young to qualify for Medicare and for those who qualify for the Medicare program. Both groups will get an unspecified health reimbursement instead of having access to a company-sponsored health plan.

The maker of Post-it notes and Scotch tape said it made the announcement now to give retirees a chance to explore different options during this year´s benefit-enrollment period, according to a 3M memo reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. A 3M spokeswoman, Jacqueline Berry, confirmed the contents of the memo.

First grader puts Democrat teacher in her place

Posted at 5:14 PM on Jun. 22, 2010 by Mr Blog

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.
First grader puts Democrat teacher in her place

A first grade teacher explained to her class that she was a liberal
Democrat. She then asked her students to raise their hands if they were
liberal Democrats, too. Not really knowing what a liberal Democrat
was, but wanting to please their teacher, hands exploded into the air
like fleshy fireworks.

There was, however, one exception. A girl named Lucy had not gone
along with the crowd. The teacher asked Lucy why she decided to be
different.

"Because I'm not a liberal Democrat," Lucy said.
The teacher asked, "Then what are you?"

"I'm a proud conservative Republican" said the little girl.
The teacher, a little perturbed & red-faced, asked Lucy why she was a
conservative Republican?

Lucy proclaimed, "Well, I was brought up to trust in myself and
freedom, instead of relying on an intrusive government to care for me
and do all of my thinking. My Dad and Mom are conservative Republicans,
and I am a conservative Republican too."

The teacher calmly pointed out, "That's no reason. What if your Mom
and Dad were both morons? What would you be then?"

Lucy answered, "Then, I'd be a liberal Democrat."

Dems gone wild WHY THE WHITE HOUSE BRIBED ROMANOFF TO DROP OUT OF COLORADO SENATE RACE

Posted at 6:24 AM on Jun. 9, 2010 by Mr Blog

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.

We now know that Obama’s Deputy Chief of Staff, called Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff in September, 2009, to offer him one of three enumerated jobs if only he would drop out of the Democratic Senate primary in which he was challenging appointed Senator Michael Bennet. But the question is why?

In the case of the Spector/Sestak bribe, the answer is obvious: The Obama Administration wanted the Pennsylvania Senator to switch parties so that they would have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. To persuade him to switch, the White House had to do its utmost to clear the field and assure him a safe path to the Senate nomination in his new political party. So, Rahm Emanual asked former President Bill Clinton to dangle positions in front of Sestak to get him to drop out of the race.

But Michael Bennet was no great friend of the White House. Having never been elected to a statewide position, he lacked a political base and was never a particularly strong candidate. He only got the Senate seat as an appointment to fill the seat vacated by Senator Ken Salazar who gave up the seat to become Secretary of the Interior in the Obama Administration. So why was the Obama Administration trying to clear the field for Bennet and assure him of the nomination?

The answer likely lies in the politics of health care. Bennet had been a question mark from the beginning of the health care debate. The Huffington Post reported, on November 22, 2009, that he was willing to lose his Senate seat if he had to in order to back health care reform. The Post reported that his dramatic announcement ended months of silence on the subject and relieved White House concerns that he was not going to back the bill.

Funny how Bennet’s announcement came less than two months after Romanoff was offered a job to drop out of the race!

If a connection can be documented between the offer and the vote (no other motivation seems credible) the transaction becomes particularly sickening. Trading a job for a vote is the crassest and most obvious form of bribery. But what else can account for Bennet’s sudden morph from being on the fence over health care to an ardent supporter who would lose all rather than see it die?

In any case, we need to help Jane Norton, Colorado’s former Lt Governor, beat either Bennet or Romanoff in the general election in the fall. She holds a lead and we need to throw this kind of horse trading bribery politics out of office.

It seems that some doctors, desperate to protect their patients from the overcrowded and failing socialized medical system in their country, have set up private clinics to treat them. To circumvent Canadian laws, which prohibit charging for medical care, they have set up private, membership clinics where, for $2,000 a year, patients can access well staffed and equipped clinics and avoid the long waits and compromised care of the public system.

The leading Canadian newspaper, the Globe and Mail, reports that “critics say that the clinics are taking physicians away from the public system making it even harder…to find a family doctor.” David Eggen, executive director of a group that supports the Canadian socialized system, Friends of Medicare, said that it’s already hard to find a family physician in Canada and that clinics like these, springing up in several Canadian cities, could make it even harder.

It does not seem to have occurred to defenders of socialized medicine that the system itself is causing the doctor shortage. Cuts in medical fees, overcrowding of facilities, shortages of equipment and space, and bureaucratic oversight have all combined to drive men and women out of family medical practice. Now, with a critical shortage looming, those who can afford to pay for adequate care are opting out of the public system and, literally, taking their lives into their own hands.

But it is illegal to make patients “have to pay a fee to gain access to health services” that are provided free by the government system. So patients and doctors are forming membership-only groups to avoid the legal penalties that could potential stop them from getting or giving the care that they need.

This is where the United States is headed. Socialism dries up the supply of medical care and forces ever stricter rationing of the available resources. As Margaret Thatcher famously said, “Eventually socialism runs out of other peoples’ money.”

With the full implementation of Obamacare and its likely cuts in physician reimbursement, more and more doctors will choose to opt out of Medicare and charge their patients for their care. The elderly who need specialized care will have no choice but to take out insurance, not to fill gaps in Medicare coverage, but to overlay the system with private coverage so they can get the care Medicare now provides to all seniors. If you want to see a family doctor, it will be rough unless you are paying for the care privately. And to see a specialist, at the low reimbursement rates afforded by the program in the future, will be well nigh impossible.

Medical care for the elderly will become like public housing or public education in the inner city. Those who can afford to go elsewhere will. Those who can’t will be left to fend for themselves in overcrowded public facilities that will be, at least, free.

And then, as in Canada, liberal critics will rail, not against the system that dried up the resources in the first place or against the socialist rules that drove doctors out of medicine, but against the private clinics for resources from the public sector.

By plunging our excellent medical care system into this new world of regulation, fee cuts, and care rationing, the U.S. is going down the disastrous road Canada has taken.

Unless we can elect a Republican majority in November and a GOP president in 2012, this is our future.

AN OIL SPILL IS NOT AN ACT OF GOD. Gulf Oil Spill BP Obama

Posted at 5:58 AM on Jun. 9, 2010 by Mr Blog

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.

We are not facing an earthquake like that which rocked Haiti or a volcano such as spewed its lava and pollution high above Iceland. This Gulf oil spill is man made and off s**** oil drilling is one of the most heavily government regulated activities of commercial capitalism. The rigs are regularly inspected. Drilling is impossible without multiple permits. Each step, each piece of equipment, each procedure must be specifically approved by the U.S. Department of the Interior.

To blame BP for this spill and the failure to clean it up is, of course, reasonable. It is, of course, their malfeasance which caused the spill and their technological inability which has let it continue to gush.

But we don’t elect the leadership of BP and it is not responsible to us.

We do, however, elect the president and he and his appointed Secretary of the Interior are very much responsible to us. And, after eighteen months in office, both President Obama and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar are responsible for their own actions in running the regulation of oil drilling in deep sea waters
.

The total failure of the regulatory process is grossly evident, more so with each passing day of this spill. Nobody seems to have considered the possibility of a massive explosion which would trigger a huge spill. There appear to have been no plans for dealing with it, either in the short or the long term. There is no standby program to shield beaches from the oil or any program waiting on the shelf to stop the environmental damage.

But an oil spill caused by a rig exploding is obviuosly an eventuality which should and must have been foreseen. Gas and oil is flammable and explosive. It comes as no great surprise that something can and inevitably would go wrong. That the government failed to anticipate and plan for this eventuality takes one’s breath away.

Imagine if the federal government’s Nuclear Regulatory Commission had allowed nuclear power plants to be constructed with no fail-safe plans in the event of a meltdown or the release of radioactivity! Imagine if it had never foreseen this possibility! There would be hell to pay and rightly so.

President Obama and Interior Secretary Salazar deserve the strongest condemnation for failing to anticipate the likelihood of a major oil spill due to an explosion. The experience of Exxon Valdez led to legislation requiring double-hulling of tankers. But there appears to have been no consideration of the chances of a major spill in mile-deep water.

What business did the government have issuing permits to drill in deep water without a plan for coping with an explosion and a spill? What was the Interior Department doing when it failed to demand adequate protection in the first place and a feasible plan for containing the damage if something went wrong?

Why is not Obama being blamed for this gross oversight? Environment is up his ally. It is, supposedly, a major preoccupation of his Administration. Yet his neglect of the ecological consequences of a spill of this magnitude is undoing generations of environmental protection of our fisheries, beaches, wetlands, and marshes! How long will he be able to escape blame and avoid responsibility for this disaster?

It is OK to blame BP. But we should blame equally the government that let this spill happen.

This is not to say that the Bush Administration and, for that matter, the Clinton White House should not also be held responsible for letting the drilling commence in deep waters without adequate planning. In fact, the Clinton Administration specifically exempted oil companies from taxation to incentivize exactly this kind of drilling. But neither Clinton nor Bush nor BP is in power.
Obama is and he deserves a round of condemnation for his obtuse failure to plan for a disaster that was always inevitable.

Words from a LEGAL Mexican immigrant - Why the Arizona Law

Words from a LEGAL Mexican immigrant - Why the Arizona Law

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.

The first simple and easy to understand explanation of the intent behind the Arizona immigration law.  A must read for all who want to understand or discuss the issue.

This was written by a Mexican who is now a naturalized US Citizen, and I think it's a great explanation of the illegal immigration issue.

Here is the quote:

"If you had tickets to a sports event, concert, Disneyland, or for an airline flight, and when you got to your assigned seat you found someone else was in that seat, what would you do? You would call for a person in charge of ticket checking and have the person in your seat removed. You would properly be asked to show your ticket, and you would gladly and proudly do so, for you have bought and paid for that seat. The person in your seat would also be asked for a ticket, which they would not be able to produce. They would be called "gate crashers" and they would properly be removed.

Now in this huge stadium called the USA we have had millions of gate crashers. We have been asking security to check for tickets and remove the gate crashers. We have been asking security to have better controls in checking at the door. We have asked security to lock the back doors. Security has failed us. They are still looking the other way. They are afraid to ask to see the tickets. Many people say there is unlimited seating, and whether there is or not, no one should be allowed in for free while the rest of us pay full price!

In "section AZ", of "Stadium USA", we have had enough of the failures of Security. We have decided to do our own ticket checking, and properly remove those who do not have tickets. Now it seems very strange to me that so many people in the other 49 "sections", and even many in our own "section" do not want tickets checked, or even to be asked to show their ticket! Even the head of Security is chastising us, while not doing his own job which he has sworn to do.

My own ticket has been bought and paid for, so I am proudly going to show it when asked to do so. I have a right to my seat, and I want the gate crashers to be asked to show their tickets too.. The only reason that I can imagine anyone objecting to being asked for their ticket is that they are in favor of gate crashing, and all of the illegal activities that go with it, such as drug smuggling, gang wars, murder, human smuggling for profit, and many more illegal and inhumane acts that we are trying to prevent with our new legislation. Is that what I am hearing from all of the protestors such as Phoenix Mayor Gordon, US Rep. Grijalva, even President Obama? If you are not in favor of showing tickets, (proof of citizenship, passport, green card, or other legal document) when asked, as I would do proudly, then you must be condoning those illegal activities."

Written by a US Citizen, Globe, Arizona.

This makes perfect sense to me. What do you think?

Since Obama has never shown his ticket I guess he feels obligated to not ask others to show theirs.

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.
pilots vs mechanics Just in case you need a laugh:
Remember it takes a college degree to fly a plane, but only a high school diploma to fix one;  that's reassurance to those of us who fly routinely

After every flight, UPS pilots fill out a form, called a 'gripe sheet,' which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics corrects the problems,  document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight.

Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by UPS pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.

By the way, UPS is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an accident...

S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

Massachusetts State Senator Arrested on Public Corruption Charges

Posted at 4:30 PM on Oct. 30, 2008 by Mr Blog

The Whole Story from Mr Blog. Massachusetts State Senator Arrested on Public Corruption Charges

SENATOR DIANNE WILKERSON ARRESTED ON FEDERAL PUBLIC CORRUPTION CHARGES

BOSTON, MA - Eight-term Massachusetts State Senator DIANNE WILKERSON was arrested this morning on public corruption charges stemming from her acceptance of more than $20,000 in cash payments to introduce legislation in the State Senate.

United States Attorney Michael J. Sullivan, Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Office and Police Commissioner Edward Davis of the Boston Police Department announced today that DIANNE WILKERSON, 53, of 74 Howland Street in Boston, Massachusetts, was arrested on a federal Complaint charging her with attempted extortion under color of official right and theft of honest services as a State Senator.

“Public service is a honor,” said U.S. Attorney Sullivan. “Voters and taxpayers expect that elected officials will do what is right for their constituents -- not what is financially best for themselves. Citizens place extraordinary trust in those it gives the greatest authority, and with that authority comes the obligation to act with fairness and honesty. The allegations against Senator Wilkerson are unconscionable, and the citizens of the Commonwealth deserve honest and faithful services of their elected representatives -- uncompromised by secret payments of cash.”

Special Agent in Charge Bamford said, “Public corruption is the FBI’s highest criminal priority. Rooting out public corruption is extremely difficult. The FBI not only has the experience and skills to take on these types of investigations, but also the ability to investigate without any influence from political patron. The FBI will not cease in our efforts to combat public corruption at every level. I thank the men and women of the FBI, USAO, and our law enforcement partners who worked tirelessly to bring this case forward.”

The Complaint alleges that law enforcement authorities were first alerted to WILKERSON's acceptance of cash in connection with the use of her public office in the spring of 2007. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, in conjunction with the Boston Police Anti-Corruption Unit, undertook a long-term covert operation, which included audio and videotaped recordings, commencing in May 2007 aimed at exploring these allegations. It is alleged that, between June 2007 and March 2008, WILKERSON took $8,500 in cash payments from an undercover agent, and a cooperating witness, to assist in obtaining a liquor license for a proposed nightclub in Roxbury. It is further alleged that, in exchange for these payments, WILKERSON pressured the Boston Licensing Board, the Mayor and the City Council, and also held-up pending legislation in the State Senate, including legislation increasing the salaries of the Boston Licensing Board.

The Complaint alleges that in an effort to obtain a license for which she was obtaining unreported cash payments, WILKERSON ultimately introduced legislation to increase the number of liquor licenses available in Boston, and then manipulated the timing of that legislation at the request of undercover agents.

It is further alleged that in January 2008 WILKERSON proposed that an undercover agent, posing as out-of-state businessman, become involved in the development of a piece of state property in Roxbury. WILKERSON proposed that she introduce legislation which directly designated the property to a private entity for development in order to avoid the ordinary public bidding process. In exchange for her assistance in the direct designation of the property, WILKERSON took a $5,000 payment in June 2008.

The Complaint further alleges that, in September 2008, WILKERSON requested that another undercover agent, posing as an out of state businessman, pay her $10,000 in cash. According to the Complaint, in early October 2008, the undercover agent paid WILKERSON $10,000 in cash, on her promise to file the direct designation legislation in the State Senate and to continue to advance the private interests of his business. WILKERSON allegedly filed the legislation and was pressing their interests with the House of Representatives and the Boston Redevelopment Authority as recently as last week.

In total, WILKERSON allegedly accepted a total of $23,500 in cash payments, ranging in amounts from $500 to $10,000. Each of the eight payments was in connection with the use of her office as a State Senator.

If convicted WILKERSON faces up to 20 years imprisonment, 3 years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine on each of the charges.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Office, in conjunction with the Boston Police Department Anti-Corruption Unit and the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation - Boston Field Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John T. McNeil in Sullivan’s Public Corruption and Special Prosecutions Unit.

Justice Department Reaches Settlement with Massachusetts Secretary of State for Noncompliance with Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act

Posted at 7:20 PM on Oct. 22, 2008 by Mr Blog

The Whole Story from Mr Blog. Justice Department Reaches Settlement with Massachusetts Secretary of State for Noncompliance with Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act

WASHINGTON - The Justice Department announced today that it has reached a settlement agreement with Massachusetts Secretary of State William Francis Galvin, to remedy violations of the Uniformed Overseas Citizen Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). UOCAVA is designed to ensure that uniformed military members and overseas citizens can effectively participate in federal elections. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, through its Secretary of State, is responsible for collecting and reporting the number of military voters and overseas citizens who are sent ballots, who return ballots, and who have the ballots successfully cast in each federal general election. Massachusetts has failed to fulfill this important legal obligation since UOCAVA was enacted in 2002.

"Accurate and complete information about whether our uniformed service members and overseas citizens are being given an effective opportunity to have their votes counted is essential to our democratic system of government," said Grace Chung Becker, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division. "Without it, Congress and the public cannot determine whether states are fulfilling their obligations to let uniformed service members and overseas citizens fully participate in our elections. We are pleased with Secretary of State Galvin’s cooperation and with Massachusetts’s recognition of the importance of these reporting requirements."

The Election Assistance Commission (EAC) report is published every two years and provides data for every state and jurisdiction in the country about how many absentee ballots were transmitted to UOCAVA voters, how many were returned, and how many were cast in federal general elections.

The settlement agreement requires the Secretary of State to implement procedures to facilitate the collection and reporting of data regarding absentee ballots transmitted, returned and cast by overseas citizens, including members of the armed forces casting absentee ballots.

UOCAVA specifically mandates that States and local governments report to the EAC the combined number of absentee ballots that are transmitted to absent uniformed services voters and overseas voters for the election and the combined number of such ballots which were returned by such voters and cast in the election. The State (or Commonwealth) must do so no later than 90 days after the date of each regularly scheduled general election for federal office. The States must also make such a report available to the general public. The Justice Department has the authority to bring an action to enforce compliance by the States.

Tennessee Man Indicted for Alleged Hack of Governor Sarah Palin’s E-Mail Account

Tennessee Man Indicted for Alleged Hack of Governor Sarah Palin’s E-Mail Account

WASHINGTON – David C. Kernell, 20, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Knoxville, Tenn., for intentionally accessing without authorization the e-mail account of Alaska governor Sarah Palin, Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew Friedrich of the Criminal Division and U.S. Attorney James R. Dedrick for the Eastern District of Tennessee announced today. Kernell turned himself into federal authorities for arrest and will be arraigned today before U.S. Magistrate Judge C. Clifford Shirley.

The single count indictment, returned on Oct. 7, 2008, and unsealed today, alleges that on approximately Sept. 16, 2008, Kernell, a resident of Knoxville, obtained unauthorized access to Gov. Palin’s personal e-mail account by allegedly resetting the account password. According to the indictment, after answering a series of security questions that allowed him to reset the password and gain access to the e-mail account, Kernell allegedly read the contents of the account and made screenshots of the e-mail directory, e-mail content and other personal information. According to the indictment, Kernell posted screenshots of the e-mails and other personal information to a public Web site. Kernell also allegedly posted the new e-mail account password that he had created, thus providing access to the account by others.

If convicted of the charge, the defendant faces a maximum of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a three year term of supervised release. A trial date has not been set.

The case is being prosecuted by Section Chief Michael DuBose and Trial Attorney Mark Krotoski of the Criminal Division’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Weddle of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee. The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Anchorage and Knoxville field offices.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama who is a head in delegates????

Posted at 11:34 AM on Feb. 20, 2008 by Mr Blog

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama slug it out in an unexpectedly tight national battle for their party's presidential nomination, Florida Democrats remain in political limbo.

State party leaders voiced confidence that Florida's 210 delegates would be seated at this summer's nominating convention in Denver. They just don't know when that will happen.
Democrats (100% reporting)

Candidate Raw # %
Hillary Clinton 856,944    50 %
Barack Obama 568,930  33 %
John Edwards 248,575   14 %

The dem's should allow Florida delegates to the presidential canadates now. No need to wait because it going to happen sooner or later.

Again the real problem is the dem's not allowing their voters to be counted is an outrage to all America voters.

Dem's are gong to needed Independent voters like myself to win the Whitehouse. This is not the way to do this.

Everyone's vote should count. The longer the dem's wait the more damages they do to their presidential canadates.

Sen. Obama allowed illegal immigrants to collect Social Security benefits.

Posted at 2:13 PM on Jan. 2, 2008 by Mr Blog

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.

As part of the immigration debate last year, Sen. Obama (D-IL), along with almost exclusively Democrats, supported an amendment which would have allowed illegal immigrants who received amnesty to also collect Social Security benefits for the work they did while in this country illegally.   That is clear and indisputable. Obama (D-IL) voted to kill an amendment that would have banned illegals from collecting retroactive Social Security benefits, and you can see the vote here.  The fact remains: Sen. Obama (D-IL) supported giving Social Security benefits to illegal immigrants.

THE DEMOCRATS A REAL BIG PROBLEM WITH SUCCESS IN IRAQ

THE DEMOCRATS: ´A REAL BIG PROBLEM´ WITH SUCCESS IN IRAQ

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) Said A Positive Iraq Report From Gen. Petraeus In September Would Prevent The Democrats From Declaring Defeat. "[Clyburn] said Monday that a strongly positive report on progress on Iraq by Army Gen. David Petraeus likely would split Democrats in the House and impede his party´s efforts to press for a timetable to end the war. ... Clyburn noted that Petraeus carries significant weight among the 47 members of the Blue Dog caucus in the House, a group of moderate to conservative Democrats. (This must be a real small GROUP Mr Blog) Without their support, he said, Democratic leaders would find it virtually impossible to p*** legislation setting a timetable for withdrawal." (Dan Balz and Chris Cillizza, "Clyburn: Positive Report by Petraeus Could Split House Democrats on War," The Washington Post, 7/30/07)

CNN Slip Up!! I do not think so. CNN knew there were Qs from dems

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.

CNN did not think they would be caught. Let´s face it they are in bed with Dem´s

CNN Slip Up!! I do not think so. CNN knew there was Q´s from Dem´s camps and they allowed there questions and tried to hide them but they were caught in there coverup.

It turns out that the openly-gay retired General, Keith Kerr, who harangued the GOP candidates tonight about the need to let gays in the military is an official Hillary Clinton supporter.
Keith Kerr was at the debate as he was recognized by CNN on TV this was a setup from CNN.
There are also more investigations from other Q´s asked coming from the CNN debate.

Criminals Beware The Mitt Romney Record check out this review Mr Blog

Posted at 11:00 AM on Nov. 28, 2007 by Mr Blog

The Whole Story from Mr Blog.

From his first days in office as Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney understood that p]ublic safety is the single most important job of government. As governor, Romney demonstrated his commitment time and time again to keeping families and their children safe from violent criminals, sexual predators, repeat drunk drivers and gang violence.

According to Department of Justice crime statistics, violent crime went down during Governor Romney's tenure. In 2006, the FBI violent crime rate ? which includes murder, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault ? was 447 per 100,000 inhabitants. This was a decrease of almost 8 percent from 2002 when the rate was 484.4. The violent crime rate was consistently below the national average. Assault and rape in particular fell roughly 15 percent and 2 percent, respectively. Other crimes likewise fell during Governor Romney's term in office, including motor vehicle theft, which fell 32 percent, and larceny, which fell 6 percent.

Under Governor Romney's leadership, the total number of State Police grew by nearly 200 Troopers from 2,333 members to 2,524 ? the highest in the agency's history. He also doubled the size of the State Crime Lab, championed 'Melanie's Law,' the toughest drunk driving law in the commonwealth's history, and signed legislation to publish the most dangerous sex offenders' photos and addresses on the Internet. Governor Romney worked to expand the definition of sexually dangerous persons to make it easier for prosecutors to file civil petitions to keep the worst sexual predators off of the street after their criminal sentences were concluded.

This year, as one of his proposals to protect our children, Governor Romney has called for a new 'One Strike, You're Ours' law. This crime initiative will impose new, tougher federal penalties for first-time offenders who use the Internet to sexually assault children, including stiff mandatory jail time to be followed by lifetime tracking by Global Positioning Satellite (GPS). As a prosecutor who pursues online sexual predators, I would certainly welcome these penalties.

Governor Romney has been a consistent supporter and advocate of the death penalty for convicted killers.

While serving as district attorney for Plymouth County in Massachusetts, I was thoroughly impressed by the Governor's consistent high level of commitment to law enforcement, victims, and public safety. Governor Romney should be rightly proud of his record in fighting crime and protecting the citizens of Massachusetts. It seems equally clear that he would bring this demonstrated commitment to being tough on crime to Washington to help protect all Americans.

From Boston Ma. NH primary poll 37% selected Romney 31% Giuliani, the whole story

Posted at 11:09 AM on Nov. 13, 2007 by Mr Blog

WBZ in Boston released a poll 11/06/2007 with Franklin Pierce University. Oddly, they didn't ask people who they intended to vote for, but they did ask some questions about what issues were most important to GOP and Independent voters who would likely vote in the GOP primary. Here are some of their findings:

When asked to list the three most important issues of the 2008 election, the results broke down like this:

Iraq war 46%
Immigration 36%
Health care 30%
Taxes 28%
Economy 24%
Terrorism 16%

On the war, 60% of GOP voters approve (41%) or strongly approve of the way Bush is handling the war. 16% strongly disapprove. 15% of GOP voters think we ought to increase troop levels, 29% think we ought to maintain troop levels, and 48% favor gradual withdrawal.

They asked who people thought would be our next president. 32% said they weren't sure, 23% said Rudy, 21% said Mitt Romney, 16% said Hillary, and no one else registered above 2%. They also asked people who they thought would win the NH primary—37% selected Romney, 31% Giuliani.

The whole story.

Democrats unfairly painted as "anti-God"? Biden said at a Rotary Club luncheon. Mr Blog

Posted at 6:23 AM on Nov. 9, 2007 by Mr Blog

Is Democrats unfairly painted as "anti-God"?
NASHUA, N.H. Democrats have been too afraid to talk about faith, Biden said at a Rotary Club luncheon.
Sen. Joe Biden said Monday that Democrats lost the last two presidential elections in part because they let themselves be portrayed as anti-God.
Biden, a practicing Catholic, acknowledged that he rarely has talked about religion in his 34-year Senate career, but suggested that would change if he wins the Democratic presidential nomination.

Looks like Joe Biden may have to answer to god about this statement Joe said he would talk about his religion if he wins Democratic presidential nomination.

(1) If you are a Democrat or Independent voter you will have to wait until Joe Biden wins Democratic presidential nomination before he will talk about his religion, what else do we have to wait for from Joe?  Joe Biden statement does have an anti god ring to it.

(2) Joe Biden 34-year Senate career he has realy talk about his religion sounds like there maybe a problem here.

There is a lot more that could be written about this statement from Joe Biden.

Whoever came up with this idea, hit the Nail Right On The Head. There should be a pair. One for Billy and one for Hilly. And I would HATE TO SEE THEM in the Whitehouse again. I’d vote for a Low Grade Ape before voting for either one of them.
