Orthodontics for Kids

Every child has some sort of orthodontic need during their childhood years. It’s important that those needs are addressed at an early age. Houston cosmetic dentist Dr. Farid Noie suggest scheduling your child’s first appointment around the age of 7. That’s an age which typically the first permanent molars in the back are already in and baby teeth are switching to grown up teeth. Dr. Farid Noie says orthodontic problems can sometimes be genetic or often a result from sucking their fingers or thumb.

During the first consultation, typically the orthodontist will examine your child. They'll tell you what particular problems they see, what the consequences of those problems may or may not be, and they'll recommend some treatment, times and options. The earlier age a problem is found, the easier, faster and less expensive it can be to treat. He encourages parents to get their child in to see their Houston dentist by at least age 2, and to ask their child's dentist when he thinks it's time for a visit to the orthodontics.

? Monday, March 23, 2009 - Seniors Enjoy Food and Life Again with Dental Implants

Regain Ability to Chew; Woman Enjoys First Salad in Thirty Years

They say it’s worth every cent. After years of frustration and embarrassment from missing teeth or ill-fitting bridgework, many seniors have significantly improved their everyday lives – nutritionally, medically and cosmetically – with dental implants. “It hurts me to see seniors struggle with dentures that move around and prevent themfrom eating properly,” said Farid Noie, DDS, a leading Clear Lake cosmetic dentist. “They can’t eat fruits and vegetables to help lower risk for or control diabetes and heart disease, and many have embarrassing facial disfigurements from years of lower-jaw bone loss. I strongly believe oral health problems are the major cause of malnourishment in older Americans today.”

Dr Farid Noie said he treats Houston Dental Implants patients of all age groups, but derives the most satisfaction from helping seniors regain power to eat normally, live healthier and derive enjoyment from activities like going to restaurants with family and friends.

“Dental Implants are a life-changing and, in some cases, life-saving treatment,” he said. “Many of my patients get very emotional when they see how they look with implants and know they can enjoy foods that used to be impossible to chew. One lady left my office and ordered her first salad in 30 years.”

The majority of seniors lose teeth from failed root canals, periodontal disease and decay. Within one year of losing a tooth, you lose about 60 percent of the bone that surrounded it, according to Dr. Noie. “Bone loss is what causes the face to sink in as the jaw becomes weaker. But even those who have lived with missing teeth for several years can benefit from dental implants,” he said. Advances in bone fortification techniques makes it possible for patients with severe bone loss to have successful implant treatment.

“Implants today are a win-win for patients” said Palmer. “Implants do not decay or involve root canals. Further, they are 97 percent successful, which significantly exceeds the success rates of root canals, three-unit bridges or dentures.” he said the standard treatment for patients with several missing teeth is an upper or lower denture secured by implants.

Dr. Noie added that highly precise computer-guided dental implant surgery has made the procedure faster, highly predictable and long-lasting. With state-of-the art digital imaging, implant dentists can analyze the anatomy of the patient’s jaw without surgery, which saves time and money and shortens implant recovery time.

Dr. Noie is an associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), which offers the most rigorous implant dentistry credentialing program in the world requiring at least 300 hours of post-doctoral instruction. He is also Fellow of International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the largest oral Implant organization in the world. Dr. Noie is also A Fellow of Academy of General Dentistry, The most recognized and respected Dental Organization in the United States. Less than five percent of practicing dentists have earned this honor. He is also an active member of prestigeous American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry® (AACD). The AACD is dedicated to advancing excellence in the art and science of cosmetic dentistry and encouraging the highest standards of ethical conduct and responsible patient care.
