Chapter III ¨C The Elder Kingdoms will take players to the newly rediscovered continent. When gamers journey to the Thunderhoof Hills they will first enter the forest, pass by waterfalls and then enter one of the three new cities to trade and meet other players, or explore a mystery shrouded graveyard of long dead kings while staying within the same zone. One of the new instances, the Dungeon of Dalanis, leads adventurers into the world of shadows beneath the Thunderhoof Hills. Here dreadful terrors lurk that can only be overcome by mobilizing everyone in your group..

The history of the old kingdoms of  Runes of Magic Gold will be told in Chapter III through many new quests. Level 55 and above adventurers will become familiar with a new skill system where they can select from a pool of special abilities which will be available to them in combat. There will also be plenty of opportunities to try out these new abilities in the new chapter, including in conflicts with other guilds. The Elder Kingdoms also expands on the existing opportunities which guilds have to equip their castles with new buildings. Rival guilds will also be able to lay their hands on siege weapons. Quests for whole player communities, Player vs. Player rankings and reward systems, as well as a new battlefield ¨C the Tyrefen Mountains ¨C bring additional depth to the PvP game. Frogster is already releasing some initial content from the third chapter in the run-up to launch in May. the more interesting MMO games shown off at E3 2006 was NCsoft's Aion Gold : The Tower of Eternity. The game is an entirely new high-fantasy MMORPG being developed in Korea, but the developers have noted that the game will be designed and aimed at a worldwide market. The game uses the same Crytek engine that was used in the FPS game Far Cry to produce some extremely colorful and lush environments, full of fully physics-based elements like water, for example, which will slow down characters trying to slog through it. The greenery in the forest and wetlands environments we saw was pretty thick, while player models were adorned in very ornate armor, exhibiting a very Korean or Eastern sensibility in character design. Weather effects are also available in the game, and these can have a real effect on gameplay--using fire-based attacks in a driving rain, for example, won't be as effective, while using water-based attacks in the same type of weather can make those spells even stronger.

Joohyung Jang, the director of Aion Gold, explained that the game will attempt to differentiate itself in a couple of ways. The principle difference will be in "user-driven storylines."
